Leadership, built around community.

My leadership roles have mostly involved helping organizations grow and handling the less visible work that keeps them running. With No Empty Seats, I helped build a mental health and suicide prevention community from the ground up. Through Chemistry Club, I support review sessions and a community for undergrads in chemistry. With the Medical Response Society, I help bring emergency medicine and lifesaving skills to students and the wider community. Each role has taught me how much planning, communication, and follow-through it takes to turn an idea into something people can actually participate in. Together, these roles have taught me to take responsibility for my community, my field, and the people around me.

No Empty Seats

Vice President and Co-Founder | About 1 year

I helped co-found No Empty Seats, the first West Coast chapter of the organization, because my family has a history of drug and alcohol abuse and suicide, which keeps my heart close to this topic. In our first year we prioritized events that bring the community together, like a 5k for charity, an ocean dip with food where all proceeds go to charity, and an adopt a dog event with the local shelter. Our message and fundraising go toward suicide prevention, so we also hold board-led discussions on prevention, helping oneself, and general well being. The club has grown to over 100 members with an expanded board of nearly 20 people, and as Vice President I manage all 12 of our chairs and leads across four committees: events, fundraising, publicity, and outreach. Starting a club around such a difficult topic was not easy, but I am incredibly proud of how far it has come and how many hearts we have touched at UCSB, and I am optimistic about another year of bringing this community together.

Chemistry Club

Treasurer | Recent involvement

As Treasurer of Chemistry Club, my main goal is to build a community for other undergrads in chemistry by holding review sessions and creating space to spend time with a subject I have genuine interest and experience in. After spending so much time both studying and teaching organic chemistry, I enjoy being part of a community centered around science in a setting that is less formal than a classroom, while helping the club stay organized and funded so it can keep serving its members.

Medical Response Society

Treasurer | Recent involvement

As Treasurer of Medical Response Society, I help keep the organization running while we plan review sessions for students interested in emergency medicine or basic lifesaving skills. We are also pushing to make it more of a volunteer organization by providing advocacy to local elementary schools, though this is still a work in progress. As an EMT with immense interest and experience in emergency medicine, my goal is to get the community involved in lifesaving prevention, because these skills matter most when they reach beyond our campus.
